Riyaz: Suspects in rape cases must be arrested immediately

Former Police Commissioner and the current MP for Kimbidhoo constituency, Abdulla Riyaz has said that people who are suspected of rape must be arrested immediately.

After the Maldives Police Service has started looking into a rape of a 19-year-old girl inside an art studio, MP Riyaz tweeted that rape suspects being at large is "a threat to every women of the country".

He said that impunity to any rape suspect is unacceptable and the Police should take stringent action including immediate arrest if the case is substantial.
