Japan wants prosperity of the Maldivian economy

The Japanese government has said that they want economic prosperity for the Maldives and is ready to work with the country on the different aspects of the economy.

As the Japanese Foreign Minister, Taro Kono continues his official visit to the Maldives which began today, the Japanese delegation has held discussions with the Maldivian government on many topics.

While the Japanese Foreign Minister held a long discussion with the Maldivian Foreign Minister, Dr. Mohamed Asim, the Deputy Press Secretary of the Japanese Foreign Ministry, Toshihide Ando, met with the Maldivian press and said that Japan is ready to work with the Maldives in may areas.

He said that Japan as been working with the Maldives on economic grounds for years and what is important for Japan is the economic prosperity for the Maldives.

Japan has recently bought shares from the world's largest seaplane operator, Trans Maldivian Airways (TMA). The Japaneses official said that this too would be a step towards strengthening the ties between the two countries.
