Leader of the Jumhooree Party (JP), Qasim Ibrahim, has said that he has experienced the bitterness of his medical state neglected and so he does not wish anyone else to go through with it.
Qasim, who is currently serving a three year prison sentence, tweeted last night saying that he knows what it's like to have an important medical treatment being delayed and like any other inmate, former Vice President, Ahmed Adheeb, too should be given the right to medical treatment.
After numerous delays in his treatment, Qasim was finally allowed to get treatment under a court order. The Judge ordered the state to send Qasim, who was serving a three-year prison sentence, abroad.
Following his experience, Qasim said that the Constitution does not obstruct the right to medical treatment to any citizen. He requested that Adheeb receive fair treatment as well.
Yesterday, the state requested the Civil Court to decline the case filed by the former Vice President, Adheeb requesting a court order to sent him abroad for medical treatment.
President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has previously said that Adheeb can only go abroad for treatment after returning the money he embezzled through MMPRC back to the state.
