Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), Jumhoory Party (JP), Adhaalath Party (AP) and former Maldivian President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom have appointed two representatives each for negotiations to select the opposition coalition’s presidential candidate for the upcoming election.
The opposition coalition has announced the intention of selecting one candidate to represent all members of the coalition, who will face President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom at the presidential election in 2018.
The coalition has now appointed two representatives each, and are due to start negotiations this Sunday.

REPRESENTATIVES FROM JP:
- JP’s deputy leader, Kinbidhoo MP Abdulla Riyaz
- Dr. Hussein Rasheed Hassan
REPRESENTATIVES FROM AP:
- Chair of AP’s foreign relations committee, Shidhatha Shareef
- AP’s secretary-general, Ahmed Shareef
REPRESENTATIVES OF MAUMOON:
- Yumna Maumoon
- Aminath Nadhira
