The pickup driver involved in the fatal accident on the Addu City link road last Tuesday has been arrested.
The accident took place at approximately 9:50 am on Tuesday, and involved a collision between a pickup and motorcycle.
A 13-year-old boy, identified as Arusham Ibrahim from G. Dh. Vaadhoo, who was on the backseat of the motorcycle at the time, passed away due to injuries sustained during the collision.
Police reports the pickup driver involved in the collision was arrested from Addu City under court order this Sunday. He has been identified as a 33-year-old male.
The police report authorities have also seized the pickup involved in the collision.
According to Hithadhoo Regional Hospital, two people sustained injuries due to the collision; a young man driving the motorcycle, and 13-year-old Arusham.
Arusham suffered a sub-cranial hemorrhage due to the collision, and passed away as the hospital prepared to transport him to Male’ City for treatment.
