President Yameen invites former presidents and opposition leaders to inaugurate the bridge

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has said that he would invite the former presidents of the country along with the opposition leaders to the inauguration of the China-Maldives Friendship Bridge being built between Male' City and Hulhule'.

Addressing the people of Baa atoll Kendhoo this afternoon, President Yameen said that since the opposition leaders cannot see the government efforts in the islands, he would invite them to the inauguration of the China-Maldives Friendship Bridge.

And on that day, wants to ask if they saw the bridge.

Indicating to the remarks from his oppositions saying that there are better things to do from the money being spent on the bridge, President Yameen said that the bridge is an idea entertained by his three predecessors and they all found the bridge to be important.

President Yameen said that even if his predecessors couldn't fulfill it before their presidencies ended, another president fulfilling the project does not negate the importance of the resources spent.

The President said that Male' City and Hulhumale' belongs to all of the Maldivian people and is connected to the future. And so bridging the two would benefit the entire country.
