The sexual misconduct accusation against South Galolhu MP Ahmed Mahloof’s father Mohamed Hassaan was a mistake, says Maldives Police Service.
Hassaan was arrested from the Islamic Center compound after Friday prayers last Friday. It was written in his arrest form that he was suspected of six offenses – including requesting sexual favors.
Police media official reports the sexual misconduct accusation against Hassaan was due to an error.
“The system ran into an error. We are correcting it,” said the media official.
Hassaan is accused of:
- Obstructing law enforcement or prison officer
- Obstruction of law and other State duties
- Running a business without permit, unlicensed import, or doing something that requires permits without permits
- Disturbing the peace
- Requesting a sexual favor in a public setting
- Participating in an Anti-Islamic activity
Hassaan was accused of all six offenses under the Penal Code.
Hassaan was arrested earlier last Thursday and questioned by the police for allegedly making Du’a at the Islamic Center with ill intent. Hassaan denies the accusation.
