Maldivian Coast Guard has advised all vessels to be on alert following reports of 30 Sri Lankan fishing boats adrift at sea due to the cyclonic storm Ockhi in region.
The Coast Guard said that the vessels are adrift in north and northwest of the Maldives. They said that reports have said that the vessels are in need of assistance inside the Maldivian economic sea.
MNDF has advised that any vessel with information regarding the Sri Lankan fishing boats to contact the Coast Guard as soon as possible on the emergency contact 191.
Coast Guard said that there are large wood beams and other similar things drifting in the Maldivian oceans and advised caution to all vessels.
