The cyclonic storm, Ockhi, formed in the South Asian region has turned into a stronger storm and is currently traveling away from the Maldives.
The regional meteorological center, India Meteorological Department has made a decision this morning declaring that the cyclonic storm has intensified further and is now traveling from the Indian Ocean to the Arabian Sea.
Although the storm has intensified, the Maldives Meteorological Service said that it poses no threat to the Maldives.
An official from the MET Office told Sun Media that storm is now traveling north, away from the country heading north west. But the rain clouds formed due the storm still remain.
Indicating that the clouds are mostly over the central and northern atolls, the MET Office Official said that extreme weather is still expected in those regions.
And so the MET Office has issued another Yellow Alert from Haa Alifu Atoll to Male' atoll from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Winds in the alert area are expected to be between 30-40 mph and 60 mph during showers.
