Launch capsized with 13 people

A speed launch traveling with 13 people from Shaviyani Funadhoo to Shaviyani Maaungoodhoo have capsized. Everyone involved survived the incident.

The incident took place while the vessel was attempting to enter the Maaenboodhoo lagoon.

After the depression between Sri Lanka and the Maldives turned into fledged storm, both countries have been severely affected. Although not directly affected, the Maldives is currently experiencing torrential rains.

Security forces have advised caution against the weather and refrain from travel unless absolutely necessary.

The MET Office have also issued a White Alert for Laamu and Addu City while a Yellow Alert has been issued for the Vaavu and Haa Alifu atoll.
