The government of Japan has made a donation of disaster reduction equipment worth USD 9.9 million to Maldives.
The donation was handed over to State Minister at Ministry of Defense, Mohamed Zuhair by Parliamentary Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, Iwao Horii in a function held at the Kalhuthukkala Koshi last Sunday.

Japan and Maldives have enjoyed over 50 years of diplomatic ties. The government of Japan is one of the main foreign contributors for economic and infrastructure development in Maldives.
