Maniu dismissed from National Integrity Commission

President of National Integrity Commission (NIC), Yoosuf Maniu has been dismissed from the commission.

The news has been confirmed to “Sun” by Maniu.

Maniu said a minister at the President’s Office called him and said he has been dismissed from the commission, and asked him to collect his letter of termination from the President’s Office.

Maniu said he wasn’t provided a reason for his dismissal, and said he has done nothing outside the boundaries of rules and regulations during his time as President of NIC.

Maniu had recently expressed concern over lack of cooperation from the Maldives Police Service for investigations conducted by the commission, threatening legal action if the authority failed to cooperate.

It has not been confirmed whether his dismissal is linked to the statements.

President’s Office was unavailable for comment.
