Maldives, Korea to celebrate 50 years of diplomatic relations on Monday

Special events have been organized to mark 50 years of diplomatic relations between Maldives and South Korea.

Korean embassy in Sri Lanka reports it has organized a reception and Taekwondo demonstration for Monday, November 27.

Taekwondo is a type of Korean martial arts.

The anniversary reception will be held at Hotel Jen at 7 pm. And will be followed by a demonstration of Taekwondo and Maldivian cultural item Boduberu at the Alimas Carnival at 8:30 pm, says the Korean embassy.

Boduberu will be performed by popular Maldivian band 1438. And Taekwondo will be demonstrated by the World Taekwondo Headquarters and Kukkiwon – a group which has toured more than 120 countries in its efforts to have Taekwondo recognized as an international sport.

The Korean embassy said it aimed to introduce new aspects of the Korean culture and enhance the ties between the two countries with the celebration.
