PPM supporters and opposition supporters clash in Thinadhoo

Supporters of PPM and MDP clashes in Gaafu Dhaalu Thinadhoo after a PPM delegation visits the island.

The confrontation occurred when the opposition supporters went to welcome the PPM delegation this evening with an insulting banner.

In attempt to get their hands on the banner, PPM supporters rushed to the opposition supporters and attacked them inciting a brawl.

A man from the island said that the brawl injured supporters from both sides along with some police officers but no one sustained any serious injuries.

Some speculate that a PPM supporter was arrested in relation to the clash but there have been no word from the Maldives Police Service so far.
