Fire damages house in Hulhudhoo

A fire caused extensive damage to a house in Hulhudhoo, Addu City, this Thursday morning.

Hulhudhoo Councilor at Addu City Council, Ibrahim Shukury reported the fire occurred at Vaijeheyge in Hulhudhoo. He said the fire was caused by an electric short.

Shukury said the fire had caused extensive damage to the bathroom and bedroom of the house. He said the fire was contained through the efforts of the police and locals at approximately 10 am.

Shukury also reported that a policeman involved in containing the fire was treated at the Hulhudhoo Health Center for smoke inhalation.

Police, Disaster Management Center, City Council and government authorities are preparing a report on the extent of the damage, said Shukury.
