President: This government will pay debts, former leaders have no right to talk about debts

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has said that his government will pay the debts from the development projects by the end of their second term and the former Presidents have no right to talk about debts.

The President made the comments in his speech at the meeting with the people of Raa atoll Fainu today.

At the meeting, President Yameen said that although former Presidents talk about national debts, they have no right to do so since the debts taken on by the former Presidents had grown annually and exponentially when he finally got elected.

President Yameen said that the loans taken by his government were to achieve the things the people have wanted for a long time and the government aims to get them as soon as possible. The President said that if he is given the opportunity for a second term, he would repay all the loans he has taken, in full. The President said that his government has been paying back the debts taken on by former Presidents.
