Maldivian Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Mohamed Hussain Shareef (Mundhu) has presented his credentials to Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena.
The new ambassador to Sri Lanka presented his credentials to President Sirisena in a small function held at 10:30 am this Monday.
Mundhu won the backing of the parliament for his nomination as ambassador on September 23, in a poll snubbed by the opposition parliamentarians. They had refused to take part in the voting and voiced out in protest when he won the vote.
Mundhu had served as the Spokesperson at President’s Office and Minister at President’s Office during former Maldivian President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom’s administration. He had most recently served as Maldivian ambassador to Japan.
