Doctors have advised that the police officer who was involved in the collision yesterday while on the way to rescue the officer and his wife who drowned at an uninhabited island near Gaafu Alifu Villingili.
A person close to Lance Corporal, Ahmed Nadheem said that he sustained serious injuries and the doctor who consulted at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital has advised to go abroad.
While the Lance Corporal was brought to the capital last night and still in critical condition, he still remains in critical condition.
The other party involved in the traffic collision yesterday sustained no injuries.
President of the Gaafu Alifu Atoll Council, Ahmed Fuad told Sun Media that the traffic collision occurred when the police officer was driving a motorcycle to get to the uninhabited island from the police station and go hit by a motorcycle driven by an underage minor.
The minor was on his way to share information on the the drowned officer and his wife according to Councilman Fuad.
He said that the police officer sustained broken teen along with the crushing of the his right side of the face.
Maldives Police Service has not made any comments regarding the Lance Corporal being sent abroad for treatment.
