Presidents sends greetings; 45th anniversary of China-Maldives ties

Maldivian President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, this Saturday, conveyed felicitations and good wishes to the Chinese President Xi Jinping on occasion of the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

In his message, President Yameen noted the centuries of trade and cooperation between Maldives and China.

He expressed appreciation for the assistance by the Chinese government especially in economic development, commercial activities, and fostering people to people engagement for the socio-economic development of the Maldives.

He also expressed eagerness to continue working closely with President Xi and the Chinese government and further bolster the existing China-Maldives relations of friendship and understanding in the future.

Diplomatic relations between Maldives and China was established on October 14, 1972.
