5 companies awarded waste management projects on 8 islands

Five companies have been awarded projects to build waste management centers in eight islands.

The islands are:

1. H. Dh. Nolhivaramfaru

2. H. A. Hoarafushi

3. N. Maafaru

4. G. A. Kanduhulhudhoo

5. G. A. Dhaandhoo

6. V. Fulidhoo

7. G. A. Kolamaafushi

8. G. Dh. Thinadhoo

Speaking during a press conference held at Ministry of Environment and Energy this Thursday, Deputy Minister Ali Amir said the “Clean Maldives” policy was given high priority by President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.

“These are overseen by the President. Waste dumps will be built on five islands. The waste dump on one island will be upgraded. Incinerators will be installed on two islands. These projects will be run under the Public Service Investment Program (PSIP) budget. This year has been when the government has run the most number of waste management projects in Maldives and spent the most one waste management,” said Amir.

Waste Management Center projects in H. Dh. Nolhivaramfaru and G. Dh. Kanduhulhudhoo was awarded to ISF Company Private Limited.

The Nolhivaramfaru project is worth MVR 1.07 million and the Kanduhulhudhoo project is worth MVR 1.4 million, reports Ministry of Environment and Energy. ISF Company has been given 90 days to complete the projects.

Waste Management Center project in H. A. Hoarafushi was awarded to Azrover Private Limited. The project is worth MVR 953,763.27, and the company has been contracted to complete the project within 90 days.

The projects in G. A. Dhaandhoo and G. A. Kolamaafushi were also awarded to the same company.

The contracts for the projects were signed on behalf of the government by Deputy Minister Amir, and on behalf of the company by its Managing Director Ahmed Ameen.

The project in Dhaandhoo is worth MVR 821,772.15 and the project in Kolamaafushi is worth MVR 1,314,592.88. Each of the projects need to be completed within 95 days.

Projects in N. Maafaru and V. Fulidhoo were awarded to New Hiyaa Maldives. The contracts were signed on behalf of the company by its Director Hussain Simau.

The project in Fulidhoo is worth MVR 1,056,106.86 and the project in Maafaru is worth 1,059,513. The project in Fulidhoo needs to be completed within 75 days and the project in Maafaru needs to be completed within 90 days.

The project in G. Dh. Thinadhoo was awarded to Noomas Construction. The project is worth MVR 1,171,893.47 and needs to be completed within 55 days. Noomas Construction’s Assistant Director Ahmed Zahir signed the contract on behalf of the company.
