12 MPs charged with obstruction

12 parliamentarians have been charged by the State with obstruction of law enforcement.

The 12 MPs are suspected of breaking through police barricades and entering the People’s

Majlis premises on July 24, while it was locked.

The 12 MPs are:

1. North Henveyru MP Abdulla Shahid

2. South Henveyru MP Mohamed Abdul Kareem

3. West Maafannu MP Mohamed Falah

4. Central Hithadhoo MP Ibrahim Mohamed Didi

5. North Hithadhoo MP Mohamed Aslam

6. Kinbidhoo MP Abdulla Riyaz

7. Thulusdhoo MP Mohamed Waheed Ibrahim

8. Hinnavaru MP Ibrahim Mohamed Solih

9. Kendhoo MP Ali Hussain

10. Nolhivaram MP Hussain Areef

11. Vilingili MP Saud Hussain

12. Maduvvari MP Mohamed Ameeth

Of the 12 parliamentarians; Ameeth, Saud and Waheed have also been charged with unauthorized access to premises, as Elections Commission has declared they are no longer members of the parliament.
