Minor and adult arrested in relation to murder of Anas

Maldives Police Service has arrested a minor and an adult in connection to the murder of Mohamed Anas, 25, from Raa atoll Meedhoo who was murdered inside the Litus Garage.

Police media official said that with a court order this afternoon, they arrested a boy under the age of 18 along with another man from Maafannu Dhimisk, in connection to the crime.

A launch captain in Raa atoll, Anas was stabbed and killed on the night of 31 July 2017 by masked men.

Police have previously arrested 12 people who were suspected of direct involvement in the crime after conducting a search at Maafannu Asareehiyaa. Five were released later.

Two people have died in the recent gang attacks in Malé City. The other death was that of Nadheem Abdul Raheem, 24, Haa Alifu Thakandhoo, who was stabbed in the head while he was inside a café.

Mohamed Mafaaz was arrested in connection with the murder and was remanded by the Criminal Court for 15 days.
