Mustafa summoned for questioning after call to unseat President

Thimarafushi MP Mohamed Musthafa has been summoned for questioning by police for allegedly appealing to the people to take to the streets to overthrow President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.

Police asked in the summons for Mustafa to present himself to the police headquarters at 4 pm, Monday.

Mustafa was originally sent summons for questioning for August 8. The summons was later cancelled.

He is under investigation for calling out for the people to overthrow the President and inciting the people to commit unlawful acts overthrow the legitimate government of the country in an interview on RajjeTV on July 28.

Police will be taking his statement and samples needed for the investigation under court order.
