Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure has requested to halt the illegal construction of cafes and restaurants in some parks and empty spaces in Male’.
Housing Minister Dr Mohamed Muizz made this statement today, and noted that this includes the construction underway at the park near Sosun Store, the park near the old Powerhouse, and Artificial Beach area.
He highlighted that these land plots had been leased by Male’ City Council, and that these groups have been advised by the Ministry to cease construction on these land plots.
They have been informed that the government will not compensate for any buildings constructed on these sites.
Dr Muizz also said that the problem could not be solved by notifying them, and that they have also disregarded the announcements made by the Ministry.
“We have made an announcement identifying these places, even today,” the Minister said.
