Thai Air Asia begins travels to Maldives

Low-cost airline, Thai Air Asia has started direct flights between Bangkok and Malé.

The first flight of Thai Air Asia landed at Velana International Airport this morning at 11:35 with 70 passengers.

Thai Air Asia will have one flight a day between Thailand and the Maldives with an A320 Airbus. The airline will travel to the former central airport of Bangkok, Don Mueang Airport.

With Thai Air Asia starting their flights, the number of airlines traveling between Maldives and Thailand has gone up to three. The other airlines traveling the route are the Maldivian national airline, Maldivian and Bangkok Airways - both, however traveling to the new Suvarnabhumi International Airport (BKK).

Thailand is a popular destination among Maldivians for holidays, medical purposes and shopping.
