The 23-December Coalition has said that a decision will be made tomorrow night on removing the President of Police Integrity Commission Shahinda Ismail and Prosecutor General (PG) Ahmed Muizz from their respective posts.
Minister of State for Home Affairs and Vice President of the Civil Society Coalition Abdullah Mohamed said today that discussions in this regard have taken place in the 20-member steering committee of the coalition parties.
He noted that investigations have been conducted on whether Muizz and Shahinda should be removed from their posts.
The Coalition’s reasons for wanting to remove Muizz from his post include that Muizz does not prosecute cases which require prosecution, and that he is biased in handling one particular case.
Its reason for wanting to remove Shahinda is that she is biased.
The Coalition commenced these discussions last week. Earlier, MDP had also stated that PG Muizz should be removed from his post.
