Azleen: Will provide safe living conditions to the public, don't worry

Home Minister, Azleen Ahmed has said the series of gang attacks in Malé City will be put to a stop and a a safe environment will be established for the public.

While two people have been killed in the series of gang attacks that started last week, Speaking at a press conference held at the Home Ministry today, Minister Azleen said that the police is capable of putting an end to the violence and would not allow the peace to be disrupted.

Minister Azleen said that there is no need for the public to be concerned about the crimes as there are already 20 people arrested in relation to two attacks.

Responding to the accusations from some people that no effort is being put to stop the violence, Minister Azleen said that a number of steps are being taken directly under the initiative of President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom and so if the police requires further help, they will have assistance from the MNDF.

The Minister said that the President has ordered to take all appropriate measures and a permanent stop to the violence will be brought in the future as those steps are implemented.

He said that the most concern regarding the violence should come from the political figures but a direct political connection to the violence has not been established so far.

While two young people have been killed this week in the series of gang violence, five separate attacks have taken place so far where seven people were injured.
