Eight charged with murder of an expat in Fonadhoo

Eight people have been charged with murder and processed for prosecution for the murder of a Bangladeshi expatriate worker in Laamu atoll Fonadhoo.

Speaking at a press conference today, the Prosecutor General, Aishath Bisham said that all eight charged with the crime are Bangladeshi nationals.

She said that the charges against them are first degree murder and accessory to the crime.

The Bangladeshi man was found murdered on Fonadhoo beach around 12:45 p.m.on 30 March 2017.

Sources say that the victim is a 27-year-old man named Hassan who has been working on the island for about four years.
