Supreme Court has accepted the case filed regarding the parliamentary seats for the constituencies - Vilingili, Dhidhdhoo, Thulusdhoo and Maduvvari.
The jurisdictional case was filed by:
1. Saud Hussain - who Elections Commission announced has lost his parliamentary seat for Vilingili
2. Abdul Latheef Mohamed – who Elections Commission announced has lost his parliamentary seat for Dhidhdhoo constituency
3. Mohamed Waheed Ibrahim - who Elections Commission announced has lost his parliamentary seat for Thulusdhoo constituency
4. Mohamed Ameeth Ahmed - who Elections Commission announced has lost his parliamentary seat for Maduvvari
The letters, informing of the decision to accept the case, was sent by the Registrar of Supreme Court to Saud, Latheef, Waheed and Ameeth this Monday.
They had asked that Supreme Court rule they can retain his seat until a decision is made by the court.
The letter says the Council of Judges had found the case complied with its regulations, and instructs them to register the case with the court within three days.
Elections Commission had determined the Saud, Latheef, Waheed and Ameeth had lost their parliament seats based on a ruling issued by Supreme Court regarding parliamentarians who switch parties.
