The parliamentarians who broke through the police barricades and forcefully entered People’s Majlis premises are under investigation, reports the police.
Police made the announcement via a tweet it made this Monday.
The security of People’s Majlis is maintained by Maldives National Defense Force.
Parliamentarians who entered Majlis premises were forcefully removed from the premises by police officers and MNDF officers in riot gear.
Police reported the authority interfered when asked for assistance by MNDF to remove former parliamentarians who Elections Commission announced have lost their seats.
The opposition parliamentarians entered the Majlis premises this Monday afternoon, demanding that a no-confidence motion against Speaker Abdulla Maseeh Mohamed be scheduled.
