Two injured in fire on uninhabited island

Two people have been injured in a fire incident on an uninhabited island in Gaafu Dhaalu atoll on an over-night picnic.

Police said that a report filed around 7:30 p.m. tonight about a fire on an uninhabited island where people were on a picnic and the injured people are being treated at Abdul Samad Memorial Hospital in Thinadhoo.

Sources tell Sun Media that the two burn victims are from Gaafu Dhaalu Thinadhoo.

Assistant Mnanager of the Abdul Samad Memorial Hospital, Aminath Abdul Hakeem confirmed to Sun Media that the two people are being treated at the hospital and according to their doctor, they did not sustain any serious injuries.

The cause of the incident is unclear at this time.
