The no-confidence motion against Speaker of people’s Majlis, Abdulla Maseeh Mohamed has been declared void.
Parliamentarians were informed of the dismissal in a letter sent by Deputy Speaker of People’s Majlis, Reeko Moosa Manik, this Thursday.
The letter read that of the 45 parliamentarians who signed the petition; Isdhoo MP Ahmed Rasheed Ibrahim withdrew his endorsement on July 13, and Thulusdhoo MP Mohamed Waheed Ibrahim, Dhidhdhoo MP Abdul Latheef Mohamed and Vilingili MP Saud Hussain have since lost their parliamentary seats.
“You are informed that the no-confidence motion submitted against Speaker of People’s Majlis, Abdulla Maseeh Mohamed has been declared void as there are now less than 42 of the endorsements required,” wrote Reeko Moosa in the letter.
