Inmate dies under treatment

An inmate died at dawn this Monday while under treatment at Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital.

The inmate has been identified as Mohamed Badheeu, 52, from H. Landhooge Irumathybai in Male’ City.

Maldives Correctional Service's media officer Ahmed Lugmaan reports Mohamed Badheeu was under treatment for diabetes when he passed away.

Badheeu was serving a 10-year and six-month sentence at Male' Prison for an undisclosed crime.

Six inmates in State facilities have died over the past year due to various reasons.
