Man allegedly involved in bribes to MPs remanded by five days

Criminal Court has remanded the man arrested for active involvement in the bribing of MPs to five days in police custody.

Maldives Police Service arrested Ahmed Shaafiu, Laamu atoll Fonadhoo, last night under a court order.

Police advised today to those with information on the bribing of MPs to come forward as soon as possible.

Spokesperson for the police, Superintendent Ahmed Shifan said that police have found evidence that the MP for Dhiggaru constituency, Ahmed Faaris Maumoon bribed MPs to acheived a specific outcome in the no confidence motion against the Speaker of the Parliament, Abdulla Maseeh Mohamed.
