Six year-old drowns in Hulhudhelhi

A six-year-old has fallen into the lagoon at the harbor area at Dhaalu atoll Hulhudheli and drowned.

Hulhudhelhi Island Council said that the child who died in the incident today is six-year-old Joodh Ahmed Shifaau studying in the U.K.G.

President of the Island Council, Ismail Nizam told Sun Media tonight that the child was found dead in the lagoon around 4:15 p.m. and was immediately taken to the health center.

The Council President said that the cause of the incident is unclear at this time and the boy does not live far from the harbor. His parents are on the island as well.

Police is investigating the death further. No further details have been released by the police.
