A statement issued by the POlice said that all suspects involved in the crime have been arrested with enough evidence to convict and the case is being prepared to be sent to the Prosecutor General’s Office (PG Office) for prosecution.

Yamin, 29, died in hospital in the early hours of 23 April 2017, minutes after he was discovered on the stairwell of his residence – M. Spatula in Male’ City – with multiple stab wounds and taken to the hospital.

Police said that the investigation faced obstruction from lawyers and an attempt by a group of people to change the focus of the investigation.

While the family of the victim has submitted to the UN, information on the murder is being shared with other international organizations as well.

Yamin’s father, Hussain Rasheed met with human rights and press freedom organizations in India back in May.
