Man who drove stolen motorcycle sentenced to a year in prison

Criminal Court has sentenced a man who drove a stolen motorcycle to 12 months and 12 days.

The court passed the sentence against Anas Mohamed, Meemu Alifu Hinnavaru.

State brought the charged Anas with enforcing power over property of another without permission.

He charged with the crime after the police saw him driving a motorcycle in November 2015 after it was reported stolen in October 2015.

Anas claimed that he received the motorcycle from a friend but he was unable to prove it.

During the trial, Anas confessed to the crime. He was sentenced under Article 1002 in reference to Article 210-B2 and Article 1106-B of the penal code.
