While 43 cases have been filed for not receiving the Ramadan Allowance, Labour Relation Authority has said that they will acquire the allowance for all those who did not receive it.
Employment Law states that every employed Maldivian must receive MVR 3000 as Ramadan Allowance.
Acting Head of the Labour Relations Authority, Deputy Minister Abdul Rasheed Nafiz told Sun Media today that cases have been filed for not receiving Ramadan Allowance to the allocated amount in the law and not receiving the allowance at all. And so information has been taken from 98 people and 43 cases have been filed and being investigated.
“We are talking to employers, a big support is being given by most. As a last resort, steps will be taken (against them).” Nafiz said.
He said that if any employee has not received the Ramadan Allowance, they can still file a case and to those who file cases can be assured that the allowance will be granted to them within the law.
Employers that refuse to give Ramadan Allowance can be fined between MVR 5,000 to 50,000 along with other punishments.
