Criminal Court has sentenced a man who confessed to using cannabis to three years in prison.
Muthasim Mohamed, Gaafu Dhaalu Vaadhoo, was sentenced to three years in prison by the Criminal Court last Tuesday.
He was charged with using cannabis after 0.14 grams of cannabis was found in his jeans pocket when he was searched after being taken into police custody in suspicion of being under the influence on 12 December 2012.
The verdict from the Criminal Court said that the accused confessed that he uses heroin and cannabis in open court and so he is found guilty of the charge against him.
He was sentenced to three years in prison under Article 115-B of the drug law.
