MMC’s President terminated from government post

Maldives Media Council’s President Abdul Mueed Hassan has been terminated from his post as Chief Executive at Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure.

Educated in civil engineering, Mueed had been filling different government housing positions since the days of the Male’ Municipality.

“Sun” has been informed by a reliable source that Mueed was terminated from his post this Tuesday.

The reason for the decision is unclear at this point.

The termination comes in the heels of the issue 40 complaints filed with MMC against media stations and individual reporters in the name of President’s Office.

The complaints were all regarding alleged defamation of First Lady Fathimath Ibrahim.

MMC later decided not to pursue the complaints after President’s Office denied the complaints were filed by the office.
