Former Chairperson of MDP and the current Deputy Speak of the parliament, Reeko Moosa Manik has said that he will stand with President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom in the Presidential Election next year.
Speaking at a PPM event for the first time last night, Moosa said that the presidency must last for five years in the Maldives and it cannot be toppled when a specific group wants.
He said that their "hearts are unbearable" while a group of people are smearing the country and the state across the world and the constitution is not something established to talk behind the backs of some people.
Responding to opposition criticism saying that there is no political movement behind President Yameen, Moosa said that there are many politically capable people in the country and not just a specific group and they are firmly standing behind the President.
If President Yameen continues the path to development and progress to the country, Moosa said that he will stand with the President in 2018 as well.
Deputy Speaker Moosa who has refused to join any political party since his dismissal from MDP has been talking in favor of government policies in the recently weeks and announced himself a supporter of President Yameen.
Moosa said that the presidency of the Maldives cannot be changed when someone wants to and the president must be respected no matter who takes office.
