Police: Did not speak disrespectfully to Yamin;s family

Spokesperson for the Maldives Police Service, Ahmed Shifan has said that the police have not spoken disrespectfully to the family of slain social media activist and blogger, Yamin Rasheed.

At a press conference yesterday held by the father of the victim and lawyer Husnu Suood accused the police of saying that the public does not have to be concerned regarding the murder of Yamin.

Police spokesperson, Shifan said that the Professional Standards Command of the police have looked into the matter following the allegations in the media. He said that the officers present at the time were questioned and no such thing have been noticed to have taken place.

Regarding the police negligence case at the court, Spokesperson Shifan said that the police does not want to give a comment to the media and they would answer in court.

Two people have been arrested in the murder of the social media activist and blogger and some evidence have been sent abroad for a forensic investigation.
