Police dispatched to atolls to maintain security for election

Teams of police officers are being dispatched to the atolls to maintain security during the Local Council Election scheduled for May 6.

Police media official reports teams of police officers started travelling to the atolls with the ballots this Sunday morning. He said the teams will all be in place by end of Monday.

The media official said officers will operate in all islands, in addition to islands which have police

stations during the election period.

“Teams of police officers have been compiled from each division in case of need for extra assistance as the police operate in the islands to maintain security for Local Council Election,” said the media official.

Maldives Police Service says police officers are ready for the election.
