Civil Court has decided not to pursue the case against former Maldivian President Maumoon’s Abdul Gayoom’s son-in-law and former Chairman of Fenaka Corporation, Mohamed Nadheem.
Nadheem was taken to Civil Court under police escort this Thursday morning.
He was summoned to the court regarding the case of debt of a company which he has a share in.
Speaking to press outside Civil Court, Nadheem said he was informed by an administrative officer of the department of the presiding judge in the case that the case will not be proceeded with as the debt has been paid off.
“An administrative officer, someone from the department of the presiding judge, came out and said that the case will not be pursued as the due payment has been settled,” said Nadheem.
Nadheem said he told the court he was summoned their without proper procedure, and was told by the court that an official from the court went to his residence to serve his papers in February, but was unable to serve it as he hadn’t been home at the time.
Nadheem said he brought to attention that the court had not put a red notice on his home, and was told by the court that it was the judge’s prerogative to but a red notice on or not.
Nadheem is married to Maumoon’s daughter Yumna Maumoon.
