Application extended for position of High Court judges

Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has extended the application period for position of two High Court judges.

JSC announced this Tuesday that the application period has been extended to May 3.

The commission originally announced on April 4 that the deadline for application for the positions was 2 pm, April 18 – which is this Tuesday.

The new judges appointed are to fill seats vacated with retirement of High Court judges Abbas Shareef and Dr. Esmeralda Zahir.

The court currently has seven judges, who are:

1. Chief Judge, Abdulla Didi

2. Judge Shujau Usman

3. Judge Abdul Ghanee Mohamed

4. Judge Shuaib Hussain Zakariyya

5. Judge Ali Sameer

6. Judge Abdulla Hameedh

7. Judge Abdul Rauf Ibrahim

Shujau, Ghanee and Shuaib work at the southern division of High Court established in Meedhoo, Addu City.
