Majority share of MEGA Maldives to be sold to Ellaidhoo Manik

The majority share of MEGA Maldives Airlines is set to be sold to businessman Mohamed Manik (Ellaidhoo Manik).

“Sun” has received reliable information 51 percent of the airlines’ share will be sold to Ellaidhoo Manik.

MEGA Maldives Airlines is a US-Maldives joint venture founded in 2009.

The airline has three shareholders; CEO of MEGA Maldives – George Weinmann, Director of Strategy and Development of MEGA Maldives – Mifzal Ahmed, and Vice President of Administration and Legal Affairs – Mizna Ahmed.

Wienmannn owns 49 percent and Mifzal and Mizna own a combined 51 percent.

“Sun” has been informed Ellaidhoo Manik will be buying Mifzal and Mizna’s shares.

Spokesperson for MEGA Maldives admitted a major the company was in the brink of structural changes including changes to senior management ownership.

The spokesperson said the changes will be shared with the press as soon as they are finalized.

The changes include appointing Rilwan Shareef - who worked as Managing Director for FlyMe as Managing Director of MEGA Maldives.
