11 people are still living in temporary shelter after the fire in the house “Dhanmaanu” in Vilimale’, reports National Disaster Management Center.
The fire which burned through all three floors of Dhanmaanu at approximately 2:15 am, March 25, rendered the house inhabitable.
The fire reportedly originated due to an electrical short on the second floor of the house.
Director of National Disaster Management Center, Hisaan Hassan reported 11 people were provided temporary housing due to the fire; seven of whom will be shifted this Monday for the duration of one month to an apartment leased by Male’ City Council to provide temporary shelter.
Four remain in a guesthouse in Vilimale’ under the care of NDMC.
Repair work on Dhanmaanu will be carried out once the assessments are complete.
Other residents of Dhanmaanu, except for the 11 people, have shifted elsewhere.
