Fire at Hithadhoo waste site

A fire has started at the waste dump site at Hithadhoo, Addu City.

Talking to Sun Media, a person from Addu City said that the fire at the Hithadhoo waste disposal site between Maradhoo and Hithadhoo has been burning for about three days. But the fire got bigger today around 7 p.m.

Spokesperson of the MNDF, Major Adnaan Mohamed said that they are working with the MRDC in Addu City to control the fire at the Hithadhoo waste site.

Major Adnaan said that they have not received any information about the waste site being on fire for three days.

Addu Live news reports a few explosions at the site today.
