Loss of any one person is no obstacle to the party’s work, says ruling Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) – which recently ousted its leader, former Maldivian President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom.
The comment was made by Deputy Secretary General of PPM, Iqbal Adam during press conference held at PPM headquarters this Saturday regarding the upcoming local council elections.
The comment was in response to a question by a reporter regarding how confident PPM was regarding securing the vote of those loyal to Maumoon.
Iqbal replied, “The administrative system in the party is such that the loss of any one person will not disrupt the party’s work. God willing, our target is to win this election,” said Iqbal.
“I don’t want to say the name of any one person. But loss of any one person will not ruin the party. This is the hope, a party with a future” he said.
522 candidates from PPM are participating in the upcoming local council election – due to be held on May 6.
