HPA cancels H1N1 alert

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has cancelled the alert they issued regarding the H1N1 influenza outbreak in the country saying that the alert level is no longer at 3 and there is only the normal flu now.

While HPA has retracted the level three alert, the latest statistics released show 23 people tested positive in 48 hours.

The statement issued by the HPA today said that they are currently working with the protocol for the common flu. And so, it is safe to send children to school starting from Sunday.

With the HPA cancelling the alert, Education Ministry has said that the schools will be reopening this Sunday. The Education Ministry initially reopened schools this week but parent did not want to send children to school with the flu still spreading.

After only a few students attended the school in the first two days of school this week, the Ministry closed down the schools again for the remaining three days.

While six people have died from H1N1, 20 people were hospitalized in treatment yesterday.
